More and more software vendors are focusing on the development of SaaS applications.
Increasing broadband penetration, improvements in remote access technologies, virtualisation technologies and new technologies for the development of web-based applications have all contributed to the growth of the on demand software delivery model.
SaaS applications can be accessed via the internet or private networks, they can be acquired on a pay-as-you-go subscription fee basis, are quick to deploy and support multiple user access. SaaS multi –tenanted architectures make the solution more scalable and flexible to meet changing business needs.
IDC is forecasting that the SaaS market will grow at 21% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) during the next three years, equalling $ 10.7 billion worldwide by 2009. Gartner predicts that 25% of software will be delivered via services by 2010.
